Adventure Camp DC

CIT Program

Why Be a CIT?

Adventure Camp’s CIT (Councilor in Training) program is a great way for campers to learn a sense of responsibility, improve their leadership skills and gain their first job experience!  It’s also a valuable training program that shows older campers that they can positively contribute to the camp community and make their part of the world a better place.

Program Details:

Your CIT will serve with 3 adult staff in their group, as well as the CIT Coordinator. As part of the CIT program, CITs will participate in two focused meetings per week to reflect on the week’s activities, recognize teachable moments, and grow leadership and emotional skills. They also take part in games and team-building exercises both with campers and the CIT Coordinator. All transportation costs and entrance fees are provided and CITs make $2-$10 per day depending on age and number of years served as a CIT. CITs are given a stipend at the end of every two weeks worked.

CIT Requirements:

  • Must be 9 years or older
  • Must be able to walk up to a mile each day, carry supplies and water, partner with younger campers, and provide support for campers on hot days.
  • Must come to camp with a brown bag lunch, water bottle, and a backpack to carry along.
  • Should have a good sense of enthusiasm, a strong sense of team, and a desire to help other campers.

If you are interested in having your camper participate in this program, please complete the 2018 enrollment form and check the box for CIT application.  CITs can participate for some or all weeks in the program.

Please note that regular camp tuition is still required for CITs.
